How It Works

Let us know you're interested

If you think you might be interested in participating in one of our studies, the first step is to call or email the study coordinator. Please see our Studies Page for more details by clicking here.

Phone Interview

More information about the studies you may be interested in will be briefly described to you over the phone. Then we will ask you several questions to determine if you are eligible to come to the clinic for an orientation visit. The phone interview takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Orientation Visit

At this visit, you will learn more about the study, meet the study staff and see if the study is right for you. We will provide you a detailed description of the study. If you are interested in participating, we will obtain your informed consent before you begin participating in the study.

During the Study

Once you are enrolled into the study, you will begin attending regular clinic visits. The number of clinic visits and amount of time each clinic visit lasts depends on which study you are participating in. Most clinic visits can be scheduled between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. During a typical clinic visit, you will fill out forms and have your blood pressure, heart rate, and weight measured. Depending on the study, we may also collect a blood, urine or saliva sample, ask you to complete tasks on a computer, and offer individual smoking cessation counseling.
